They stand like elementary and schematized bodies. Symbolic and deliberately archaic: what matters is to suggest the main parts: head, trunk or navel, feet. The central axis of the column makes it possible to structure the whole.

They are suspended or posed – in pairs – couples defined, sober or flickering. As a family too, sometimes, where everyone plays their part.

Solitary too, like the plate of the “LAutoportrait aux rubans” (Self-portrait with ribbons). In magnificent oak, it spoke for itself, by its shape and its postural inclination, almost on the move. Simply enhanced with threads and knots, so many echoes of childhood.

‘Pupe’ (Dolls) are halfway between statuettes and dolls. These are simple “dressed” railing sticks. Their initial shape speaks for itself, their silhouette – head, hollow waist, hips – simply imposes itself – their black ink colour sculpts them even more. Tied ribbons, nailed and studded braids, wooden beads, little train… Here they are corseted and dressed, posed and posing for a group photo.
