I choose transport pallets, as I liked the combination of untreated wood and reclamation. Abandoned planks, old doors can also be real encounters.

Each of them is singular – the shape, square, rectangle – dictates its transformation, its recesses.

The accumulation and overlaying of various threads perhaps make my work look like that of a spider. Many people are arachnophobic. I very much admire their constructions, which are as audacious and patient as they are elegant. ‘Spider’ is a tribute to them.

Moucharabiehs

I have never been to North India or Morocco. But I have always admired the Palace of the Winds and the wooden Mashrabiyas. These combined ideas of air circulation and secrecy (seeing without being seen, hiding beauty).

I reproduced these lattices of stone and wood in textile material. It is a revisited mesh. These two pieces were made in the heat of summer, in the Var, out of climatic empathy…
The two parts are just superimposed. They have found their balance point.

‘Cocon’ (Cocoon) mimics the insect or the bird.

‘La Ruse’ (Cunning) panels are an attempt to imitate the beautiful natural weave of palm tree bark. I reweaved the empty spaces and the missing parts.
