Much of what I transform was “found” on a pavement, in a “landfill” lot, or in the wild.
I like to recover and divert. The idea is to seize an object, place it in a line and offer it an extended life, in perspective.
The two frames of ‘L’Annonciation’ (the Annunciation) are those of an old screen.
‘M. Roustan’ is a curtain blind from the fifties…
A rusty wheel rim found in a ditch in the mountains has become ‘Main dé-rouillée’
(De-rusted hand).
‘La danse du soleil (The Sun Dance) is an old antique door latch hook.
‘Réunion’ (Reunion) is a solid Savoyard window shutter. I had it cut in half and reunited.
‘Le courrier du cœur (Mail from the heart) is an old postal bag that has been left in sea water, wrapped in a large rusty chain, causing several alterations.
A friend wanted to get rid of two used oars. I jumped on them! ‘Ramons ensemble’ (Struggling together)
Old nails, used wire, beads from old door curtains: rust and the expression of natural aging are very appealing to me.
‘La série des tamis’ (the ‘series of sieves) is a tribute to a memory of hard work. They usually belong to the rural world: grain sieves, flour sieves, compost sieves, sugar sieves… To revive them, I try to go beyond simple “facade” work.
